Comparison of Chinese-Built Dies to US Built Dies

Buying a die in China is not the same as buying a die in the USA.  We at Tiger Tooling provide a total engineering approach to overseas tooling and we meet customers' part manufacturing requirements.

Differences?  Yes.  Not in quality, but in specifications.  Customer standards are important to Tiger Tooling, but some exceptions relevant to Chinese tooling apply to Tiger tools built in China.

To maximize cost savings, the following features, common to Chinese tooling, should be incorporated into your die specifications:

• Metric dimensions. Most Chinese manufacturing plants are not tooled for English units.
• Chinese style layered designs with cross sections
• Shipping & Handling costs are passed onto you.
• Non-USA number tool steel.  Substitute an equivalent type — equal in quality.
• Ball Bearing style pins and bushings in die sets

Our main product is stamping dies.  We build attribute gauges for our Chinese parts and certify them with 3rd Party documentation.  

Engineering & Manufacturing.  Tiger Tooling designs stamping dies in the United States and manufactures them in China, or if you prefer, at our US-based, 25-person American tool and die manufacturing plant in Dayton Ohio.  Our American plant is also available for making any adjustments necessary when dies reach the USA.

What You Can Expect

Your specifications most likely will not be able to be manufactured in China 100% as is. Tiger Tooling works with you to make the appropriate substitutions to meet your satisfaction, with no loss of quality. 

You'll get a good die that produces good parts.

Tiger Tooling's American engineers will do all the management and engineering processing from concept to approval.

You'll get a project at 30% to 50% savings.

Your stamping die can be built with all Chinese components or a combination of American and Chinese components.
